Match report ladies 2s vs Morpeth

NEWCASTLE LADIES 2s: BUILT DIFFERENT. BUILT TOGETHER. ??

Newcastle 1–0 Morpeth

Not a match report. Another chapter in the making of something special.

Ladies,

They say great teams find a way to win.

And this Saturday, Newcastle Ladies 2s proved that sometimes winning isn't about beautiful hockey, silky skills or perfect passing.

Sometimes it's about grit, determination and dragging yourself across a pitch moving at approximately the speed of continental drift.

That pitch was SLOW.

The ball wasn't rolling. It was considering its options. Every pass required the force of a thousand suns.

But champions adapt.

As Ted Lasso once said, "Taking on a challenge is a lot like riding a horse. If you're comfortable while you're doing it, you're probably doing it wrong."

And ladies, nobody was comfortable on that pitch.

Up front, Bex, Bobbi and Chell kept battling, pressing and refusing to let Morpeth settle.

And then came Bex.

Determination. Fight. Pure refusal to give up. Battling her way around the goalkeeper and finishing on the reverse stick.

1–0. Ice in the veins. Absolute cinema. ?

In the engine room, Dino, Jenny, Helen and Katie kept us moving, fighting for possession and linking the play.

And speaking of Jenny...

Four games. Three wins. Nine points on the league table.

Coincidentally, our fearless captain also has nine points on her driving licence.

The difference? One set of points is taking us up the league. The other is dangerously close to taking Jenny off the road.

So, to protect our captain's availability for the rest of the season, she will now be chauffeured to all future fixtures.

Nine points on the table. Nine on the licence. Jenny, respectfully, we only need one of those numbers to keep climbing. ??

Out wide, Chloe, Charlotte and Holly worked tirelessly, providing width, tracking back and covering enough ground to warrant their own Strava achievements.

At the back, Rach, Lisa, Hannah and Jules stood firm. Organised, resilient and determined to protect our lead.

And when Morpeth threatened, Maggie stepped in between the posts and produced some absolutely outstanding saves.

But here's the thing.

Against Darlington, we proved we could fight our way back from 2–1 down.

Against Morpeth, we proved we could fight to stay ahead.

And of course, we must acknowledge the real highlight of the afternoon.

The match teas.

Quite simply, the best we've had all season.

But now our attention turns to next Saturday.

Four games. Three wins. Nine points.

Momentum is building, but momentum means nothing unless we keep working for it.

We cannot expect results. We have to earn them.

Win your tackles. Make your runs. Back your teammates. Fight for every ball.

We don't need eleven heroes. We need one team.

And as Ted Lasso said:

"Believe."

Believe in the foundations we're building. Believe in the work we're putting in. Believe in each other.

The foundations? Solid.

The defence? Locked in.

The vibes? Immaculate.

Jenny's driving licence? On thin ice.

The mission? Make it four wins from five.

Brick by brick. Game by game. Win by win.
