The day started with the usual team talk but this time from Paul acting as captain in place of David who was out with covid. The first half started well for the Newcastle as we showcased exceptional teamwork and skill with Will scoring his first goal for the twos.
Unfortunately I earned myself DOD with some questionable decision making ending up with me on the floor and laughter from the side of the pitch. A stellar performance from their forward line resulted in a flurry of goals, finishing the half with arguably the best team goal of the season finished by Sam VV.
The half time team talks were had and we went in to the second half with our heads held high and 4 goals up.
Within the first four minutes Alex T scores our first goal of the half. I went off injured after forgetting how to run. Despite having no defined back line subs. The defense held firm with special appearances from Keith and Finns, ensuring another clean sheet for Newcastle. A great performance from Tom at left back allowed him to bag a well deserved MoM. Overall, a commanding performance of 9-0 that highlights the strength and prowess of Newcastle Field Hockey 2s.
We continue to extend our unbeaten run and stretched our goal difference to 70.
