And a few scrappy tackles!

Heavy rain set the scene for our home game against Durham City. We sheltered from the rain in the changing rooms to get Nicky’s very important team talk. During the very important team talk Amy took the time to just catch up on the next couple of levels of Candy Crush! Have a word captain!

A star coach, Rose was brought into support Brian and the warm up. Epic shouting and control of the unruly group of ladies! Rose did a great job! Thank You! The rain carried on falling during the warm up but it didn’t spoil our parade. We had a very smiley Bazi even though she was very very tired and our short corners were looking great! Durham City tried to press us when we were on the ball and the game became quite physical. They used this to put us under more pressure as the game went on. We protected the ball well and started to move it out of contact. With great balls into the d and epic running off the ball the ball found its way pass the line between the two posts on numerous occasions. Two lovely deflections, two lovey reverse goals and lots of other team goals gave us a grand total by the time the final whistle came. We still defended strong and Bass worked the wing well even though she constantly avoided contact due to her hamstring injury! Several players left with bumps and bruises but we all played to the last whistle. Bob got hit and carried on… Lee Valley has defiantly changed her. Next up... Lou Lou’s teas! Now for those who don’t know. Lou Lou’s teas were the talk of the 2017/18 seasons. This year Lou Lou dramatically out did herself! She had sandwiches, fruit, share bags of crisps and complementary tray bakes from Nicky. A joy good spread! A vote for Lou Lou to do teas every weekend!

A strong performance by the team. There were times we could of lost our heads and the strongest of those kept calm on the pitch and responded by letting the hockey do the talking. However hard it is to take decisions on the pitch and however painful the bruises are as A.A.Milne wrote in the House at Pooh Corner “So, they went off together. But wherever they go, and whatever happens to them on the way, in that enchanted place on the top of the Forest, a little boy and his Bear will always be playing.”
Remember whatever happens around you or to you... you will always be playing hockey, on that enchanted pitch, with your friends, for fun. Don’t ever forget that.
