Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, the great adventure of Lesbiahen unfolded in a charming French town.
The carrousels set off from Newcastle — and someone took a huge gamble putting Anna and Jemma in the same one! How would the rest of the team cope with all that organisation in a single vehicle?
Our journey began in the land of stairs, minus two mysterious bin bags of “rubbish” that Maggie was convinced Jenny had brought along. (Note to Maggie: worst detective ever!) As we admired what we thought was the night sky, we soon realised it was just Nikki’s starry knickers stealing the spotlight again!
After transforming in true Cinderella fashion — getting ready in the basement, of course — we headed to the pitches. Like the ugly stepsisters themselves, Halifax wasted no time and took an early 1–0 lead.
But every fairytale has its magic, and ours came in the form of our very own Oz fairy godmother, who stepped up with a superbly struck equaliser from a beautifully converted penalty corner. ✨
However, dark clouds were gathering. Storm Amy rolled in, waiting for the frogs to hop off and her prince to appear… though after about 10–15 minutes, we started to think maybe she’s waiting on a princess instead! The storm soon made its mark — the bridges across the moat opened just as the goal literally fell over, creating chaos on the pitch and an open path for Halifax to sneak through to Newcastle’s castle once more.
Like a determined flock of ducklings (ugly or otherwise), we returned to the pitch — though it turns out ducks don’t love water quite as much as legend suggests. The storm came and went, as did Halifax in our D, finishing the match with a 3–1 win to the stepsisters.
But remember — every fairytale has a happy ending in sight. Here’s hoping ours is just around the corner! ?
